Commission confirms board appointments, judicial‑commissioner slate and certifies seven notaries

During the Oct. 15 session Franklin County commissioners approved several appointments and reappointments recommended by the Nominating Committee and the county mayor.
The Nominating Committee recommended and the full commission approved two Beer Board nominees — Stan Henn and Jackie Axt — to fill a four‑year term, the committee reported on Oct. 1 and the commission adopted the recommendation on Oct. 15. County Mayor David Alexander submitted additional recommendations and the commission approved nominations for the Emergency Services Board and Consolidated Communications Board seats, and reappointed or confirmed other local committee seats as noted in the packet.
Judge Thomas C. Faris submitted a request to the commission to appoint Judicial Commissioners for the next 12‑month term and listed candidates in correspondence included with the meeting materials. The commission moved to approve Judicial Commissioners and to add two part‑time judicial commissioners; the judge's letter named Linda McCallie, Jim (or Steve) Brazelton, Judy Stewart, Troy Clark and Ed Brock as candidates and a separate letter requested appointment of Benjamin Wayne Smith as a part‑time judicial commissioner. The commission approved the judicial‑commissioner slate on the motion on the Oct. 15 agenda.
County Mayor Alexander also recommended appointments to the Consolidated Communications Board and recommended Ben Lynch as Franklin County Attorney and Chuck Stines to serve as county fire chief; commissioners approved those recommendations by voice vote. The commission also certified seven notaries by formal certificate during the meeting: Samantha Baker; Latisha A. Dotson; Heather Gifford; Shelley Glassco; Kelly S. Martin; Kristy M. McAbee; and Sara Templeton.
All the appointment motions on the Oct. 15 agenda were adopted by the full commission during the meeting.
