Dickson County Commission OKs interlocal fire pact, closes Greer Road and seats District 9 commissioner

DICKSON COUNTY, Tenn. — The Dickson County Commission on March 15 authorized an interlocal agreement with the Tennessee TNCVFD Volunteer Fire Department, voted to remove Greer Road from the county certified road list and elected a new District 9 commissioner.
County Mayor Bob Rial, who presided over the meeting at the Dickson County Courthouse in Charlotte, opened the session with the flag salute and a devotion led by Commissioner Dwight McIllwain. County Clerk Luanne Greer conducted roll call; no absences were recorded.
The commission first approved the Feb. 22, 2021 minutes on a motion by Commissioner Clayton Ellis and a second from Commissioner Linda Hayes; the motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
On Resolution 03-2021-01, commissioners voted to authorize the mayor to enter into an interlocal agreement with the Tennessee TNCVFD Volunteer Fire Department to formalize fire service cooperation and continue county financial support to rural volunteer fire departments. Commissioner Jeff Eby moved the resolution, and Commissioner Becky Spicer seconded; the measure passed by unanimous aye voice vote.
The commission next approved Resolution 03-2021-02 to close Greer Road after receiving a request from all adjoining landowners that the county be relieved of future obligations for the road. Commissioner Randy Simpkins moved the road-closure resolution; Commissioner Dwight McIllwain seconded, and the measure passed unanimously.
In elections to fill the District 9 County Commissioner vacancy, John Reuter recommended Pete Mattio and Commissioner Linda Hayes nominated five candidates: Tony Adams, Ty Corlew, Pete Mattio, Tricia Nociti and Mike Petty. Each candidate was given an opportunity to speak. The commission conducted three rounds of voting under the procedure requiring six votes for a winner; Mike Petty received the necessary six votes in the third round and was elected. County Mayor Bob Rial administered the oath of office to Petty.
County Clerk Luanne Greer then submitted a slate of notary applicants for approval. Commissioner Stacey Batey moved to accept the list and Commissioner Becky Spicer seconded; the commission approved the notaries by unanimous voice vote.
Announcements at the end of the session noted the Porter Community BBQ will take place the second Saturday in April and that the next regular session is scheduled for Monday, April 5, 2021 at 7:00 P.M. in the Buford L. (Booty) Reed, Jr. County Commission Chamber of the Dickson County Administration Building, 4 Court Square, Charlotte.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 P.M. following a motion and second by those present.
