Dickson County Commission approves $1,000 one-time pay supplement for first responders, adopts routine budget and infrastructure measures

The Dickson County Commission met Jan. 19, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the Dickson County Courthouse in Charlotte and approved a series of routine measures, including a one-time $1,000 pay supplement to certain county first responders.
The one-time supplement, authorized by Resolution 01-2021-01, amends the County General Fund (Fund 101) and the Highway Fund (Fund 131) to provide $1,000 payments to specified county first responders. Commissioner Becky Spicer moved the resolution and Commissioner Johnnie Reed seconded; the minutes record the motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.
The commission also approved several budget and operational resolutions by unanimous voice votes: 01-2021-02 to authorize amendments to the county’s General Purpose School Fund (Fund 141), Federal Projects Fund (Fund 142) and/or Central Cafeteria Fund (Fund 143); 01-2021-03 to authorize amendments to all county funds except school funds; and 01-2021-04 to enter into one or more copier-lease contracts with Dickson County Office Supply for four copiers. Commissioner Dwight McIllwain and Commissioner Stacey Batey were among those who moved and seconded these items, respectively, per the minutes.
The commission accepted the 2021 Dickson County Road Report via Resolution 01-2021-05 and set speed limits by resolution on Rebecca Drive and Allen Road (30 mph) and on the county portion of Sanker Road in Burns (40 mph) under Resolutions 01-2021-06 and 01-2021-09. Resolution 01-2021-07 ratified the appointment of Casey Grove as Judicial Commissioner for a two-year term after an emergency appointment by General Sessions Judge Craig Monsue; the minutes show the ratification motion passed by unanimous voice vote.
Separate items included elections and appointments: the commission elected Dwight McIllwain, Ronald Kimbro and Conni Heard to the Agricultural Extension Committee and re-elected Becky Spicer and Todd Berry; Harold Williams, Shane Chandler and Gary Peeler were appointed to the Planning Commission. County Clerk Luanne Greer submitted 13 notaries for approval; the commission approved the list by unanimous voice vote.
The minutes record that three rezoning requests (Jennifer Perkins; Adam Jude; Steven and Monica Triplett) were scheduled for a Feb. 16, 2021 public hearing rather than acted on at this meeting.
The commission adjourned at 8:20 p.m. The next regular meeting was announced for Feb. 16, 2021, at 7:00 p.m. in the Buford L. (Booty) Reed Jr. County Commission Chamber of the Dickson County Courthouse.
