Dickson County Commission approves several rezonings and sets 35 mph limit on Tidwell Road

County Mayor Bob Rial presided as the Dickson County Commission on Feb. 22 unanimously approved a slate of rezoning requests and set a new speed limit on Tidwell Road.
The commission approved Resolution 02-2021-02, requested by Steven and Monica Triplett of 3251 Hwy 46 S, to rezone a portion of Parcel 016.20 (Tax Map 145) from A-1 (Agricultural) to C-2 (Commercial). Commissioner Randy Simpkins moved for approval and Commissioner Becky Spicer seconded; the motion passed by a unanimous aye voice vote.
Commissioners also approved Resolution 02-2021-03, a request from Jennifer Perkins of 4119 Hwy 46 in Burns, to rezone a 2.66-acre portion of Parcel 021.00 (Tax Map 132) from A-1 to C-2. Commissioner Carl Buckner moved the measure, Commissioner Johnnie Reed seconded, and it passed unanimously.
A third rezoning, Resolution 02-2021-06, amended the zoning of Parcel 024.06 (Tax Map 135, approximately 2.25 acres) at Iron Hill West/Hwy 46 S from A-1 to C-2. Commissioner Johnnie Reed moved and Commissioner Carl Buckner seconded; the motion carried by unanimous voice vote.
Separately, the commission adopted Resolution 02-2021-05 to set the speed limit on Tidwell Road at 35 miles per hour. Commissioner Becky Spicer moved the resolution, Commissioner Stacey Batey seconded, and commissioners approved the change by unanimous voice vote.
All zoning amendments and the speed-limit resolution were presented as individual agenda items and passed without recorded dissension. The resolutions will amend the county's official zoning map as described in Article V, Section 5.020 of the county zoning resolution.
The commission handled the items as routine business; no conditions, amendments, or recorded roll-call vote tallies were given in the minutes. The commission proceeded to other agenda items after the votes.
