Bland County supervisors reappoint regional authority members, adopt State Farm Day proclamation

Chairman Randy Johnson called the Bland County Board of Supervisors' continued meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. June 2 at the Bland County Courthouse. Present were Supervisors Keith Costello, Stephen Kelley and Adam Kidd; Dr. Eric Workman, county administrator; Paul Cassell, county attorney; Teresa Tolbert, finance director; and Linda Miller, board secretary.
The board approved an amended agenda, with Supervisor Stephen Kelley making the motion to approve and Supervisor Keith Costello seconding. The motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Randy Johnson opened a public hearing on the proposed fiscal year 2023 county and school budget; no members of the public spoke, and Johnson closed the hearing. The hearing provided the formal opportunity for public input required before the board proceeds with budget adoption, though no testimony was offered at this session.
Supervisor Keith Costello moved to reappoint Supervisor Stephen Kelley and Dr. Eric Workman to Virginia's First Regional Industrial Authority for four-year terms running July 1, 2022, through June 30, 2026, with Rodney Ratliff named as alternate. Supervisor Adam Kidd seconded the motion, which the board approved unanimously.
Supervisor Adam Kidd then moved to adopt a proclamation recognizing June 7, 2022, as State Farm Day in honor of the company's 100th anniversary; Supervisor Keith Costello seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Chairman Johnson recessed the meeting until Friday, June 10, 2022, at 4:00 p.m. at the Bland County Courthouse. No formal votes on the FY2023 budget were recorded at this meeting.
