Bland County board holds closed session on personnel, authorizes advertisement for county administrator opening

Supervisor Stephen Kelley moved to go into executive session pursuant to Virginia Code A7A72.2-3711(A)(1) to consider personnel issues related to the county administrator; the motion was seconded by Adam Kidd and passed unanimously. After returning to open session, the board unanimously adopted the Certification of Executive Meeting under Va. Code A7A72.2-3712, with a roll-call vote recorded as all yea.
Following certification, the board voted to authorize the County Administrator and the Human Resources Director to advertise the County Administrator position. The motion to advertise was made by Stephen Kelley, seconded by Adam Kidd, and approved by roll call without dissent.
Supervisor Adam Kidd also stated during Supervisors' Time that he will not be applying for the County Administrator position and intends to seek re-election to the board.
The board's actions keep hiring authority with the county administration and human-resources staff and fulfill the statutory requirement to certify an executive session was limited to the announced subject.
