Supervisors move $2.04M in ESSER funds into FY2022 school budget, approve payroll and textbook transfer

LUNENBURG, Va. — The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors voted Nov. 10 to move $2,044,160 in previously awarded ESSER funds into the school division’s Fiscal Year 2021–2022 revenue to reflect HVAC work paid to Trane in June 2022.
County Administrator Tracy M. Gee told the board the change raises the FY2022 school budget to $26,167,887 and reduces FY2023 revenue for the school division by the same $2,044,160, yielding a revised FY2023 budget of $27,513,540. The Board approved the post-year adjustment unanimously.
Assistant Superintendent and Finance Director James Abernathy provided the monthly school report and highlighted athletic achievements. The board approved a resolution of achievement to recognize the junior varsity and varsity football teams once their season concludes and authorized a December 20, 2022 payroll date for teachers, bus drivers and other school employees whose salaries are set by the School Board.
The board also authorized a retroactive transfer of $41,546 from the school general fund into the textbook fund for purchases in FY2022–23 to meet the FY22 required local match.
