LUNENBURG, Va. — The Lunenburg County Board of Supervisors on Nov. 10, 2022 unanimously approved a new Event Venue Ordinance that shifts the county from per-event permitting to an annual licensing model and establishes operational, safety and enforcement standards for rural event venues.
The measure, introduced by the Planning Commission and presented by Planning Commission Chairman Buck Tharpe and Community Development Director Taylor Newton, requires permitted event venues to obtain an annual license for $1,500 due by Dec. 31 for the following year and a $150 late fee if the payment is received after Dec. 31.
