Mackinac County commissioners on Jan. 8 approved a policy governing the management of the Delinquent Tax Revolving Fund and authorized a one‑time transfer of $500,000 from the fund to the General Fund.
Commissioner John Kling moved to adopt the DTRF policy resolution, saying the change would allow surplus DTRF funds to be used to cover emergency expenses and building improvements, creating a cushion for the county. Commissioner Daryl Schroeder seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
The board then voted to authorize Treasurer Tina Massey to transfer $500,000 from the DTRF to the General Fund and later move those funds into the restricted Public Improvement Fund. The motion passed on a unanimous roll call. Treasurer Massey and commissioners described the action as a fiscal-management step to provide flexibility for capital and emergency needs; no implementation timeline beyond the authorization was specified at the meeting.
