Five bids for Les Cheneaux SRO vehicle reviewed; board defers final selection

Under Sheriff Ron Umbarger presented five vendor bids for a new Les Cheneaux Community School Resource Officer patrol vehicle and the board reviewed the amounts but did not select a vendor at the Jan. 8 meeting.
Bids presented were: Sarah Jones Ford — $46,767; Lunghamer Ford — $45,391; Gorno Bros Ford — $47,262; Soo Motors Ford — $47,900; and O'Connors Dodge — $42,190. Umbarger said the sheriff and under sheriff would decide which bid to choose and present that recommendation to the board at the next meeting.
No motion to award a contract was made at the meeting; the board only added the bid review to the agenda and deferred final approval to sheriff's staff.
