At its April 9 meeting the Benzie County Board of Commissioners completed several appointments and adopted a resolution altering membership on the Tax Advisory Committee.
The board appointed Randy Rice to the Tax Advisory Committee (motion by Sauer, second Cunningham). Fran Griffin was reappointed to the Betsie Valley Trail Management Council for a three-year term expiring April 15, 2027; Dorene Strang and Christopher Kitchen were reappointed to three-year terms on the Benzie Transportation Authority expiring April 30, 2027.
The board then considered and adopted Resolution 2024-011, which amends Resolution 2024-006 to include a designee to serve on the Tax Advisory Committee. The roll call on Resolution 2024-011 recorded ayes from Commissioners Cunningham, Jeannot, Roelofs and Warsecke and two nays from Commissioners Nye and Sauer; Commissioner Markey was excused. The board also designated the County Administrator to serve as the Tax Advisory Committee designee.
During public comment Randy Rice thanked the board for his appointment. County Administrator Katie Zeits said the Tax Advisory Committee will meet within 10 days and staff will post meeting notices.
The adoption of the amendment drew recorded opposition from two commissioners but passed by the required majority.
