The Benzie County Board of Commissioners on May 28 approved a wage increase for the Administration executive assistant, Jackie Palfey, and directed the County Administrator to complete a $249.48 budget adjustment from contingency to the corresponding wage line; the increase takes effect June 9, 2024. Chair Bob Roelofs abstained from that vote as recorded in the minutes.
The board accepted Avace Wildie’s resignation from the Betsie Valley Trailway Management Council and appointed Jim Gribble to fill the remainder of the term through Dec. 31, 2025.
County Administrator Katie Zeits reported the county is scheduled to receive another $100,000 in opioid settlement funding in the coming months; her office will publish a page on the Benzie County website detailing how opioid funds are spent and will host a roundtable with the Attorney General’s Office on July 5 at 10:00 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners room to discuss opioid fund expenditures.
