The board indicated by consensus that the request should move forward; Commissioners directed staff—County Administrator Katie Zeits and Road Commission representatives—to work together to prepare details for the board and for ballot placement.
Public commenter Eric VanDussen urged the board to consider whether the county Building Authority should be involved and recommended naming a project manager if the Building Authority is assigned oversight. VanDussen said he had spoken with the bond attorney, who described Building Authority involvement as optional.
No formal bond resolution or ballot language was adopted at the meeting; officials said further work on project scope, financing and governance would return to the board before final placement on the ballot.
