After a closed-session review of attorney-client privileged opinions on July 17, the Benzie County Board of Commissioners unanimously authorized Board Chair Bob Roelofs to submit Freedom of Information Act requests for certain investigative records for the board’s review.
The motion to authorize the FOIA request was made by Commissioner Markey and seconded by Commissioner Warsecke; roll-call voting recorded all seven commissioners — Cunningham, Jeannot, Markey, Nye, Roelofs, Sauer and Warsecke — voting Aye. The action followed a closed session held under MCL 15.268(1)(h), during which County Attorney Matt Nordfjord was invited to participate. The transcript does not disclose the content of the privileged legal opinions.
The board recorded no public comment on the matter. The meeting was called to order at 1:00 p.m., returned to open session at 3:11 p.m., and adjourned at 3:13 p.m.
