Grow Benzie funding request rejected by Benzie County commissioners, 6-1
Summary

A motion to grant a one-time allocation of $10,000 from the Benzie County General Fund to Grow Benzie failed at the Benzie County Board of Commissioners meeting on Aug. 13, 2024.
Grow Benzie representative Josh Stolz attended the meeting, provided a handout and answered commissioners' questions. Commissioner Cunningham moved to authorize the $10,000 allocation and the motion was seconded by Commissioner Warsecke. On a roll call vote, Cunningham was the single aye; Commissioners Jeannot, Markey, Nye, Roelofs, Sauer and Warsecke voted no. The motion therefore failed.
During the public comment period later in the meeting, Stolz again addressed the board, provided background on Grow Benzie’s finances and thanked commissioners for considering the request. The minutes show no further action on the matter; the organization will not receive the requested county allocation based on this vote.
