Frankfort County City Airport asks Benzie County to raise annual contribution to $15,000

Brooke Popp, Frankfort County City Airport Director, presented the airport’s 2024–25 annual budget to the Benzie County Board of Commissioners on July 23 and asked the county to increase its annual contribution from $12,000 to $15,000.
Popp outlined the public value of the airport and said the authority is also evaluating whether to bring accounts payable and payroll back in house. The presentation was attended by Ken Laurence and David Spragens.
At 10:56 a.m., David Spragens, the Frankfort County City Airport Crystal Lake Township representative, told the board he appreciated the questions during the presentation and said, “Brooke is doing a great job and hope you give her your support.”
The board did not take immediate formal action on the funding request during the July 23 meeting. The airport’s budget was provided to commissioners for consideration; any change to the county’s annual contribution would require future approval as part of the county’s budgeting process.
