Charlevoix County Transportation Authority approves 4% cost-of-living raise for ferry captains

Manager Gordie Russell said operations are "running smoothly," and Transit Director Joe Kroll introduced Dave Moliterno, Michigan Department of Transportation project manager, noting that a recent Coast Guard inspection "went well." Kroll also reported a single transit user error complaint that staff plan to resolve by issuing the rider a book.
The personnel action was proposed by Authority member Scott Hankins and seconded by Michael Cunningham; the board approved the 4% increase on a roll-call vote of 3-0. The action applies to ferry captains and matches the cost-of-living increase granted to other county employees, as described at the meeting.
Earlier in the session Pat Klooster moved, and Cunningham seconded, approval of the meeting minutes for Aug. 12, 2025; the motion carried on a 3-0 voice vote. Later the board approved the August 2025 monthly bills, $9,212.69, on a roll-call vote of 3-0 after Klooster moved and Cunningham seconded the payment.
No public comments were offered during the public comment periods. The board set its next meeting for Oct. 14, 2025, at 9:00 a.m.; member Michael Cunningham said he will not attend that session. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. and adjourned at 9:19 a.m. Minutes were submitted by Kim Garver, Chief Deputy Clerk.
