Charlevoix County Planning Commission elects officers, adopts 2025 meeting schedule

The Charlevoix County Planning Commission opened its Jan. 9 meeting with officer elections and routine business.
Elections: Acting Chairperson Nancy Ferguson was nominated and elected Chairperson by voice vote after a motion by Pam Grassmick and a second by Mike Ritter. Nancy Ferguson then opened nominations for Vice Chairperson; Matt Cunningham was nominated and elected by voice vote (second by Marshal Bakker). Matt Cunningham nominated Pam Grassmick for Secretary; Grassmick accepted and was elected by voice vote after a second from Nancy Ferguson.
Routine approvals and schedule resolution: The Commission approved the meeting agenda (motion by Pam Grassmick; second Marshal Bakker) and approved the Nov. 7, 2024 minutes (motion by Mike Ritter; second Matt Cunningham), both by voice vote. Later in the meeting the Commission adopted a resolution setting the 2025 meeting schedule (motion by Marshal Bakker; second Anna McGlashen). The resolution passed on a roll‑call vote with all seven members voting yes (Ritter, Grassmick, Cunningham, Ferguson, Bakker, Wheeler, McGlashen). The resolution sets regular meetings for the first Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Charlevoix County Shirley Roloff Center, with the January and July exceptions noted and allowance for occasional alternate locations in compliance with the Michigan Open Meetings Act (Public Act 267 of 1976).
Adjournment: On a motion by Mike Ritter (second Matt Cunningham) the Commission adjourned at 7:11 p.m.
