Dar Leaf reminded the committee on Jan. 7 about the June "Rock the Country" event. Commissioner Jon Smelker asked whether event security would be coordinated with the sheriff's department, whether the event company would reimburse the sheriff's department for overtime wages, and who would supply ambulances for the event; Smelker requested that Central Dispatch be included in planning meetings. Chair David Jackson asked Leaf for the date of the next security meeting; Leaf said he would email that date to Jackson.
The committee record shows operational questions were raised but does not record commitments from the sheriff's office, Central Dispatch, or event organizers on security coordination, reimbursement or ambulance service. Smelker's questions indicate the committee expects further coordination between the event organizers and county public-safety operations before the event in June.
