At its Oct. 10 meeting, the Houghton County Board of Commissioners appointed TAG Consulting (Tim and Ann Gasperich) as the county’s designated assessor and adopted the Houghton County Equalization-Apportionment Report.
Equalization Director Jaikob Djerf told the board the county is required to have a designated assessor for compliance and that the appointed assessor would be called upon only if a municipality is found out of compliance. Djerf said he prepared an interlocal agreement and the Designated Assessor document for township consideration; a simple majority of townships must sign the interlocal agreement for the county to file the paperwork with the state if needed.
The motion to appoint TAG Consulting was made by Commissioner Glenn Anderson and seconded by Commissioner Gretchen Janssen; the vote was 4–0. The Apportionment Report was presented by Djerf and adopted by motion (Janssen moved, Anderson second) and roll-call vote (4–0).
