Weed board will host Ag Day booth, sponsor NDWCA luncheon entertainment; tables parking signs over safety concern

Merlin Leithold told board members the Ag Day will be Nov. 5 in Elgin with a children’s program during the day and an evening program for adults, including a kid’s carnival. Walker Sabin moved that the weed board have a booth for $50; Justin Vetter seconded and the motion carried.
Leithold raised a separate concern that road-crew vehicles were parking near a driveway in a way that blocked his view when backing up and when returning the truck to the shed; he said he had mentioned the problem to Jon Alt but the situation had not improved. After discussion, Dick Woodbury moved to table putting up no-parking signs until the next meeting; Drew Gaugler seconded and the motion carried.
On conference sponsorship, the board agreed to again help sponsor entertainment at the NDWCA annual conference noon luncheon. This year the entertainment is Quintana Linseth and family; Walker Sabin moved to sponsor half the entertainment cost ($250) and Dick Woodbury seconded. The motion carried.
Why it matters: the actions show the board’s outreach plans for fall events and record an unresolved safety concern that members could revisit at the Oct. 30 meeting.
The board scheduled its next meeting for Oct. 30, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. MDT at the courthouse in Carson. The meeting adjourned at 8:48 p.m.
