Western Grant Ambulance District formed; seven-member board elected

NEW LEIPZIG, April 10, 2025 — Residents and officials gathered at the New Leipzig Ambulance Bay to formalize the Western Grant Ambulance District and elect its initial board and officers.
The meeting, recorded by Grant County Auditor/Treasurer Sara Meier, established a seven-member board after a motion from Brian Richardson and a second from Keith Payne to set membership at seven; the motion carried with all present voting aye. Nineteen ballots were cast to choose board members; tallies were recorded by Meier and election canvassers Jared Fischer and Sarah Fischer.
Ballot counts recorded in the minutes show Brian Richardson received 19 votes, Tara Gaugler 18, Julie Levorsen 18, Jenna Kilzer 17, Dennis Rivinius 16, Julie Goeres 13, Keith Payne 13, John Amundson 9 and Les Bartz 7. The minutes list those accepting nomination and the resulting membership determinations.
Following the board-member vote, Meier called the meeting for officer elections. By unanimous oral vote, Keith Payne was elected chairman, Brian Richardson was elected vice chairman and Julie Levorsen was elected secretary/treasurer. The board set term lengths so that the chairman, secretary/treasurer and two other members serve two-year terms; the vice chairman and the remaining two members will serve one-year terms and be voted on at the annual meeting in 2026, after which all seats will be two-year terms.
The board voted to name the newly formed entity the Western Grant Ambulance District. The minutes record next administrative steps: adoption of bylaws, preparation of a budget and opening of a bank account. A follow-up meeting was tentatively scheduled for May 29, 2025, at 7:00 p.m. at the New Leipzig Ambulance Bay.
