Grant County Weed Board re-elects Leonard Gerhardt as president, appoints officers and approves routine finances

At its March 18 meeting in Carson, the Grant County Weed Board completed its annual reorganization and approved routine financial reports and bill payments.

President Leonard Gerhardt presided after being nominated by board member Walker Sabin and elected by unanimous ballot after nominations were closed. Walker Sabin then nominated Dick Woodbury for vice president; the board elected Woodbury by unanimous ballot. The board appointed Merlin Leithold as secretary for 2025. Motions to close nominations and cast unanimous ballots were seconded and carried without recorded opposition.

The secretary’s report was approved on a motion by Dick Woodbury and a second from Walker Sabin. The treasurer reported a bank balance of $198,114.04 as of March 1 and presented bills totaling $1,506.60 (including reimbursements and office/building expenses); Denis Tibor moved to accept the treasurer’s report and pay the bills, Drew Gaugler seconded and the motion carried.

During roll call and introductions Merlin noted that Dick Woodbury and Marty Meyer had been reinstated to the board by the county commissioners; Marty Meyer was noted as absent at the meeting.

Merlin also updated the board on equipment and outreach: he will take the district 4-wheeler to Open Road Honda in April to check trade-in or sale value and reported on the board’s presence at the KFYR Agri-International show and the statewide convention. The meeting concluded with the board setting its next meeting for April 15 at 8:00 p.m. MDT at the courthouse in Carson and adjourning at 9:21 p.m.
