Morton County Commission approves bills, payroll and three sets of abatements; reports $1,218,215.76 in expenditures

Chair Nathan Boehm opened the Morton County Commission's regular meeting Feb. 8 at 5:30 p.m. in Mandan. Commissioners present approved a series of routine items by motion and recorded roll-call votes.
Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Leingang seconded to approve the meeting agenda; the motion passed with all voting aye. Commissioner Buckley moved and Commissioner Morrell seconded to approve the minutes of the Jan. 23, 2024 regular meeting; the motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Leingang moved and Commissioner Buckley seconded to approve bills and payroll. The minutes record a roll call with Commissioners Leingang, Morrell, Zachmeier, Buckley and Chair Boehm voting aye; the motion carried. Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Buckley seconded to approve portfolio assignments as presented; all voted aye.
The commission approved three sets of property tax abatements by individual motions: abatements #6335–3692 (moved by Commissioner Morrell, seconded by Commissioner Zachmeier), abatements #6393–6394 (moved by Commissioner Morrell, seconded by Commissioner Leingang), and abatements #6395–6396 (moved by Commissioner Buckley, seconded by Commissioner Morrell). All abatements were approved with all commissioners voting in favor.
Auditor Dawn R. Rhone reported that total county funds expended from Jan. 25 through Feb. 8, 2024 totaled $1,218,215.76. Rhone noted that a detailed list of expenditures by check is available for public inspection during regular business hours at the Morton County Auditor's Office. Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Buckley seconded to adjourn at 6:28 p.m.; the motion carried with all voting aye.
