Sumter County Council ratifies 2023–24 committee appointments; sale of Magnolia Street property presented for third reading

Sumter County Council unanimously ratified the chairman’s proposed 2023–2024 standing committee appointments on Jan. 24. The roster, which the minutes say is unchanged from 2021–2022, lists chairs and members for intergovernmental liaison, fiscal/tax/property, land use, public safety, public works and other committees, and records council liaisons to area boards and regional entities.
Chairman James T. McCain introduced the appointments and asked for any questions; none were raised. On motion by Councilman Artie Baker, seconded by Vice Chairman James R. Byrd, council ratified the proposed assignments unanimously.
County Attorney Johnathan Bryan presented Ordinance #22‑983 for third reading, which would authorize sale of property at 205 and 215 North Magnolia Street to C&C Property Holdings, LLC (previously referenced as Connelly Development, LLC). Bryan said there had been no changes since second reading. The minutes record the presentation; these segments do not record a final vote on the ordinance.
