Sumter County Council on Feb. 14 voted unanimously on multiple land-use and property actions, including two rezoning requests and adoption of an ordinance authorizing the sale of county-owned property.
Planning Director Mrs. Roodman presented RZ-22-14, a request to rezone approximately 1.89 acres at 4605 Patriot Parkway from General Residential to Agricultural Conservation so the applicant can demolish an existing manufactured home and build a hair salon. Planning staff and the Planning Commission recommended approval. Vice Chairman Byrd moved first reading approval, Councilman Baker seconded, and the motion passed unanimously.
Mrs. Roodman also presented RZ-22-13, a third-reading rezoning to convert a 0.22-acre portion of TMS# 133-15-02-036 at 1700 Peach Orchard Road from Agricultural Conservation to General Commercial to allow a garden nursery. After presentation and comments, Councilman Baker moved third reading approval; Council unanimously granted third reading.
On Old Business, County Attorney Johnathan Bryan reported that the county and Adams Property Group, LLC had reached a contract to sell county property at 1987 Durant Lane. Councilman Baker moved third reading and adoption of Ordinance #22-984 authorizing the sale; Council voted unanimously to adopt the ordinance.
All three actions were recorded in the meeting minutes as carried unanimously; the minutes do not show any recorded dissent or conditions attached to the approvals.
