Planning staff member Helen Roodman presented RZ-22-13, a request by property owner Gayle Langan to rezone approximately 0.22 acres (bringing the total site to about 0.96 acres) of TMS #133-15-02-036 at 1700 Peach Orchard Road from Agricultural Conservation (AC) to General Commercial (GC). Roodman said the applicant "indicated her intent is to establish a Garden Center Nursery (SIC 526) on the property" and noted the property lies within the Military Protection Area and is generally consistent with Sumter County's 2040 Comprehensive Plan. The Planning Commission recommended approval.
Councilman Charles T. Edens moved to grant first reading to the rezoning request; Vice Chairman James R. Byrd seconded the motion and the council carried the first reading unanimously.
The minutes record the rezoning as first reading approval; follow-up steps for final zoning action or subsequent readings were not specified in the minutes.
