Committee recommends Sumter County Library join county government system July 1

The Fiscal, Tax and Property Committee reported to Sumter County Council on March 28 that it supports placing the Sumter County Library into the Sumter County government system effective July 1, 2023.
Chairman James T. McCain said the Committee received a report from the county administrator and that committee members in attendance agreed with the library board's request that the library be included in the county system. The administrator must notify the State by the end of June that the county will allow the library into the county’s system effective July 1; the administrator will keep council informed of the process.
The minutes do not record a separate council vote on this item at the March 28 meeting beyond the committee report; council members present expressed agreement in committee and were informed of next steps.
