Sumter County Council approved second reading of Ordinance #23-989 on June 27, 2023 authorizing the sale of county-owned property at 14 Law Range to Erick Hodge for $101,000, in an as-is transaction.
County Attorney Johnathan Bryan presented the contract-of-sale terms during a public hearing; no members of the public spoke on the sale. The purchase agreement requires the buyer to remit payment and directs proceeds to the Sumter County Infrastructure Fund. The minutes note the County Administrator is authorized to execute the purchase contract, quitclaim deed and related documents necessary to complete the conveyance.
The minutes state the sale contract is attached as Exhibit A to the ordinance; the record notes eight additional contract pages are part of the sale process but were not included in the minutes packet.
Council recorded a motion on second reading approving the ordinance; council action was recorded during the meeting’s old-business section.
