Whitfield County OKs sewer expansions to serve Miracle Field and Carbondale Road

Commissioner Greg Jones moved and Commissioner John Thomas seconded approval to expand sewer lines from Crider Road to Miracle Field, authorizing use of ARPA funds and a 10% contingency to account for material cost increases. County staff referenced Dalton Utilities’ September 2021 estimate of approximately $1.4 million for the project. The motion passed 4-0.
The Board also approved a separate Dalton Utilities project for sewer expansion on Carbondale Road, a project included in the SPLOST 2020 referendum with a September 2021 estimate of $1.06 million; the Board authorized this project with a 10% contingency and approved the motion 4-0.
Both approvals direct staff to proceed with project implementation and include contingency funding to cover material price variability. Commissioners did not record objections in the meeting minutes; county staff will return with procurement and scheduling details as the projects move forward.
