Whitfield County sets 2022 maintenance-and-operation millage at 7.300; special district rate unchanged

The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners voted to set the county's 2022 maintenance-and-operation millage rate at 7.300 and left the special tax district millage at 3.438 during a special-called meeting Oct. 21, 2022, at the courthouse BOC meeting room, 205 N. Selvidge Street.
Commissioner Barry W. Robbins moved to approve a resolution fixing the tax rate for 2022; Commissioner Greg Jones seconded the motion. The resolution passed 3-0, recorded in the minutes as Commissioners Jones, Thomas and Robbins in agreement. The meeting minutes record Commissioner Robby Staten as absent.
Chairman Jevin Jensen opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance and roll call before the board approved the agenda by the same 3-0 vote. County Administrator Robert Sivick and County Attorney Robert Smalley were listed as present; Blanca Cardona, county clerk, signed the meeting minutes dated Nov. 14, 2022.
The action adopted at the meeting is recorded as a formal resolution fixing the millage rates for Whitfield County for 2022. No additional debate or amendments to the millage rates are recorded in the minutes; the special tax district rate is noted as unchanged at 3.438. The board adjourned by unanimous consent after the vote.
The county will publish and implement the adopted millage rates according to its normal administrative procedures.
