The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 9 voted unanimously to register no land-use classification objection to several municipal annexations: City of Tunnel Hill (parcel 12-038-15-000), Town of Cohutta (parcel 11-024-06-007) and City of Varnell (parcels 11-155-01-037, 11-264-08-002 and 11-155-01-004).
The board also approved planning commission recommendations to rezone three privately owned parcels. The motions passed 4-0 to rezone: a 22.63-acre tract owned by Lewis Dixon from Estate Residential (R-1) to General Agriculture (GA) at 189 Sloan Road (parcel 13-241-07-000); a 2.30-acre tract owned by Jaime Paucay and Alberta Alvarade from General Commercial (C-2) to Rural Residential (R-5) at 4398 S. Dixie Highway (parcel 13-171-02-000); and a 0.54-acre tract owned by Ricardo and Maria Salaises from Heavy Manufacturing (M-2) to General Commercial (C-2) at 1525 NW Waring Road (parcel 12-143-02-000).
The minutes record no public protest or contested votes for these items; each motion passed unanimously.
