County approves IT backup upgrade, Superior Court interpreter contract and shared Extension position

The board authorized a purchase from WrightCore under state contract totaling $113,806.60 to replace backup hardware, add server memory, renew support and provide professional services to install and configure equipment. County staff said the upgrade will improve data protection against ransomware and extend the virtualization refresh timeline by about three years.
Commissioners also approved a one-year Superior Court interpreter services contract with KRNW Inc. for $98,750, effective through Dec. 31, 2023.
Separately, the board agreed to a new half-year contract position with the University of Georgia Extension Office: the county will pay 50% of salaries and benefits for a Family and Consumer Sciences Educator for the remaining FY2023 period, totaling $33,184; the county noted the July-December 2023 costs will be included in the FY2024 contract.
All three motions carried 4-0.
