Board names new elections supervisor, senior center director and adopts 2023 commissioner appointments

At its Jan. 9 meeting, the Whitfield County Board of Commissioners unanimously appointed Shaynee McClure as Elections Supervisor and Mary Hammontree as Senior Center Director.
Commissioner Greg Jones nominated Barry W. Robbins to serve as vice-chairman for 2023; with no other nominations the board voted 4-0 to elect Robbins. Chairman Jevin Jensen announced commissioner assignments to area boards and authorities, including the Dalton-Whitfield Solid Waste Authority, Greater Dalton MPO, Northwest Georgia Regional Commission and other local entities; the board approved those appointments 4-0.
The board also re-appointed Kevin Harris and Frank Robertson to the Dalton-Whitfield Joint Development Authority and re-appointed Cathy Snyder to the Dalton-Whitfield Trade Center Authority, each by unanimous vote.
Commissioners and the chairman congratulated the appointees during the meeting. No public testimony or contested nominations were recorded in the minutes.
