Whitfield County commissioners on July 10 awarded Tri State Roofing Contractors, LLC of Chattanooga, Tenn., a $1,858,400 contract to remove and replace the roof system at the Law Enforcement Center.
The county sought bids for a complete roof-system removal and replacement across five roof areas totaling approximately 86,000 square feet plus various awnings. Bids were advertised for 34 days beginning June 2; a mandatory pre-bid meeting on June 21 drew 10 contractors. Four bids were received on July 6 and Tri State submitted the low bid. The contract completion date is listed as Dec. 15, 2023.
Commissioner Greg Jones moved to enter into the contract and authorized the chairman to sign; Commissioner Robby Staten seconded the motion, which passed 4-0. The board record does not detail the source of funds for the project in the meeting minutes nor does it include a performance bond or warranty summary in the minutes; those procurement documents are typically included in the contract file held by county administration.
Next steps: the contract was authorized; administration will execute the agreement and initiate work under the terms of the procurement contract.
