Tift County staff recommend awarding EB Hamilton and Salem Church bridge contracts; board to place items on consent agenda

Jordan also reported that the Salem Church Road bridge replacement received two responsive bids and that Southern Concrete Construction Company, Inc. was the low bidder at $1,039,535. Jordan said Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) TIA/TSPLOST funding will pay for the project and that GDOT's TIA office has issued a Notice to Proceed. The board requested placement of this item on the May 8 consent agenda.
Jordan told commissioners the EB Hamilton work will begin with Phase I grading and paving related to parking and drainage; relocation of an underground Georgia Power line to accommodate the parking expansion was discussed separately and estimated at $48,000 (see related article). No formal award or contract signatures were recorded at the workshop; the board's action at the May 8 consent agenda will determine final authorization.
