The board also approved a letter of support for an additional judgeship in the Tifton Judicial Circuit and a USDA lease amendment to prevent use of ByteDance (TikTok).
County Clerk Miriam Jordan said Resolution No. 2023-11 on surplus vehicles and equipment was amended to show the City of Ocilla will purchase two fire engines for $50,000 each; the board approved the resolution by a 6-0 vote.
In other business, Commissioner Paul Webb moved (second Fred "Buck" Rigdon) to name Commissioner Donnie Hester as the county's voting delegate to the ACCG Legislative Leadership Conference; the motion passed 6-0. Commissioner Melissa Hughes nominated Celietha Curry Davis to serve as the advocate-for-needy, underprivileged or elderly on the Tift County Board of Health; Commissioner Stan Stalnaker seconded the nomination and the board appointed Davis by a 6-0 vote.
Separately handled on the regular agenda, the board approved a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 for Animal Control for $45,144 from Woody Folsom (SPLOST VI).
