The board also handled several routine business items. Commissioner Mike Dixon moved to approve the purchase of LED lighting for the county gymnasium at a cost of $3,552.00; Commissioner Michael McBride seconded and the motion carried by unanimous vote.
Commissioner Edwin Lovett moved to adopt a resolution authorizing the sale of a county drug dog and a 2016 Ford Explorer (equipped with a police package and dog kennel) to the City of Sylvania; Commissioner Mike Dixon seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The minutes reference a Bill of Sale to be executed and note the resolution will be filed in the minute book.
The board agreed to table a discussion on purchasing a fire truck to a later date. There was no public comment recorded.
In reports, Commissioner Triplett said the county is avoiding nonessential spending amid ongoing COVID-19 uncertainty. Commissioners thanked Commissioner Michael McBride for his service and wished him well. Personnel Director and Finance Officer Lori Boulineau shared holiday schedules and noted a courts’ request about virtual court. Zoning Administrator Randy Hagan updated the board on the Solid Waste Management Plan.
