Ben Hill County commissioners approve surplus property, banking signers and ACCG program; agenda and minutes also approved

The Ben Hill County Commission approved several routine but consequential items at its Dec. 3, 2024 meeting, with all recorded motions passing unanimously.
Key actions approved: • Surplus property: Commissioner John Mooney moved to declare county property used by the Ben Hill County Sheriff's Office as surplus; Commissioner Bennie Calloway seconded. The motion passed with Commissioners Mooney, Calloway, Daniel Cowan, Vice-Chair Hope Harmon and Chairman Steve Taylor all voting in favor. • Multi-Bank Securities Agreement: Commissioner John Mooney moved to authorize Hampton Raulerson, Deanne Griffin and Pamela Turner as authorized signers on the Multi-Bank Securities Agreement; Commissioner Daniel Cowan seconded. The motion carried unanimously. • ACCG First Responder PTSD program: Commissioner John Mooney moved to authorize participation in the ACCG Interlock Risk Management / First Responder PTSD Program; Commissioner Daniel Cowan seconded. The motion passed with all five commissioners voting for the motion. • ACCG 401(a) amendment: Commissioner John Mooney moved to approve an amendment to the ACCG 401(a) Defined Contribution Plan / Senior Management Plan; Commissioner Daniel Cowan seconded. The motion passed unanimously.
Earlier in the meeting the board also approved the meeting agenda and the minutes from the Nov. 5, 2024 regular meeting. Vice-Chair Hope Harmon gave a brief legislative report noting House Bill 581 and plans to begin developing a 2025 legislative agenda next month.
