The Ben Hill County board recognized the DLS 8 Youth Boys Soccer Team on Feb. 4 after the team’s state tournament victory. Keith Morrison, the county’s DLS director, told commissioners the team won the state tournament (they were 2023 runner-up and won the 2024 district in Thomasville). Michael Heitzman introduced the players to the board and photos were taken.
Morrison also briefed the board on parks and recreation operations: basketball season is winding down and will end next Thursday, the county will host a District All-Stars tournament, and registration for T-ball and softball is open through Feb. 28. These items were recorded under department reports; no board votes were taken on programming.
