County Manager Michael Dinnerman presented the Ben Hill County proposed fiscal year 2025 budget of $11,939,917 at a public hearing during the commission’s Dec. 3, 2024 meeting, citing increases in emergency medical services and health insurance costs.
Dinnerman told the commission the plan is balanced and durable, saying the budget is "accurate and balanced" even as some line items rise and others fall. Chairman Steve Taylor opened the hearing and solicited public comment; none was offered.
The proposed budget bundles projected revenues and expenditures at $11,939,917 and reflects specific upward pressure from EMS and health-insurance spending, according to Dinnerman. He said some categories are “up & down” and described the overall plan as tight but durable.
The board did not adopt the budget at the Dec. 3 meeting. Chairman Taylor scheduled a special called meeting for Dec. 11, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. to consider formal adoption of the FY2025 budget. The public hearing on the county Hazard Mitigation Plan is set for Dec. 11 at 10:00 a.m. the same day.
