Ben Hill County manager reports new administration building, Monitor Project timeline; EMS seeks stop‑the‑bleed kits

County Manager Hampton Raulerson told the Ben Hill County Commission on July 8 that county staff have moved into the new administration building and that a groundbreaking for the Monitor Project was held that morning.
"We have moved into our new Administration building; it has been greatly received by all the employees," Raulerson said. He added that contractor discussions indicate the Monitor Project is expected to be finished by the end of the year or shortly after the start of next year.
EMS Director Richard Dunagan reported the county applied for a grant for 30 Stop‑the‑Bleed kits with a planned distribution of 20 kits to the sheriff’s office, seven to volunteer fire departments and three to the road department. Dunagan said the sheriff’s office and volunteer fire departments did not qualify for the grant because they had received kits two years ago; he said county staff will coordinate training with Road Superintendent Nathan Fountain and that kits are expected to arrive on or about Aug. 1.
Recreation and leisure services Director Keith Morrison summarized recent youth‑sports results: various age groups advanced in district and state tournaments, with the swim team scheduled for the state meet on July 18–19 and the season ending Aug. 8.
