Coffee County names Linda McDuffie and appoints Mayor Tony Paulk to regional authority; reestablishes law enforcement center as court annex

Coffee County commissioners on Sept. 7 resolved several governance items: they filled a board vacancy, appointed a regional representative and reestablished a courthouse annex.
County Attorney Tony Rowell said there was a conflict with a prior appointment of Connie Lott and the board moved to appoint Ms. Linda McDuffie to the Concerted Services Board for a term covering July 1, 2021 through June 30, 2024. Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens moved to approve the appointment; Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers seconded and the vote was unanimous.
Commissioner Kitchens then moved to appoint Mayor Tony Paulk to the Atkinson County'Coffee County Joint Development Authority for Sept. 7, 2021 through Dec. 31, 2023. Commissioner AJ Dovers seconded and the board approved the appointment unanimously.
County Attorney Rowell explained a previously approved resolution designating the Law Enforcement Center at 825 Thompson Drive as a court annex had lapsed because the courts did not hold sessions there at least twice per year during the COVID-19 period. The new resolution reestablishes the Law Enforcement Center as a courthouse annex, restoring the ability to hold court at that location. Commissioner Jimmy Kitchens moved to approve the resolution; Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
All three actions were adopted without recorded dissent.
