Commissioners approve $87,380.72 road change order and $17,500 pipe replacement from TSPLOST funds

The Coffee County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 7 approved two infrastructure actions aimed at repairing roads and replacing a damaged pipe, both paid from TSPLOST funds.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers said crews found additional potholes while working on previously approved patching and spot overlay projects, prompting change order #2, an increase of $87,380.72 that brings the contract total to $308,172.97. A previous deductive change order of $10,500 had been recorded. Commissioner AJ Dovers moved to approve the change order; Commissioner Ted O'Steen seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Vickers also presented a proposal from Douglas Electrical & Plumbing, Inc. to install a concrete pipe on Basswood Drive for $17,500; the county will purchase the pipe separately and use TSPLOST funds for installation. Commissioner AJ Dovers moved to approve the proposal; Commissioner Johnny Wayne Jowers seconded and the board approved unanimously.
Both actions allocate TSPLOST dollars to fix roadway damage and replace failing drainage infrastructure; the board did not record any dissent.
