The Coffee County Board of Commissioners agreed on Jan. 14 to contribute up to $100,000 in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds toward a proposed 2,000-square-foot addition to the Coffee County Head Start building.
County Administrator Wesley Vickers told the board the county had received a proposal for the addition and that ARPA funds could be used for the project. Vickers said he needed the commission's agreement so he could follow up with the project contact, identified in the public transcript only as Mr. Singleton. The commission agreed to contribute up to $100,000 toward the work.
Administrator Vickers also reported that Shanda Henderson had requested the county stop requiring mobile home decals; he said that proposal will be presented at the next meeting for the commission's consideration. In response to a question from Vice-Chairman Ted O'Steen, Vickers said a new agricultural agent should begin work soon, though no name or start date was provided in the public record.
The commission adjourned the special called meeting at 11:50 a.m.
