Commission approves rezoning south of Baltic to allow commercial expansion

The Minnehaha County Commission approved Ordinance MC16-167-20 on Aug. 25, 2020, rezoning a 0.45-acre parcel (Tract 2A Wold Tracts) from A-1 Agriculture to C Commercial to allow the petitioner, Ransom LLC, to expand business operations from an existing repair shop.
Planner II David Heinold presented the second reading and said the property meets the Envision 2035 Minnehaha County Comprehensive Plan criteria for locating commercial uses in existing rural service areas at intersections of state and county highways. The Planning Commission had unanimously recommended approval on July 27, 2020. No members of the public spoke in opposition at the hearing. Todd Ibis of Midway Service attended the hearing.
MOTION by Beninga, seconded by Heiberger, to approve Ordinance MC16-167-20 passed by roll call: 5 ayes. The full ordinance is on file at the Minnehaha County Auditor’s Office.
