County authorizes automated breathalyzer kiosk for 24/7 program lobby

Minnehaha County commissioners authorized the Chair to sign an Automated Breathalyzer Kiosk Customer Service Agreement with Custom Control Systems Inc, doing business as Precision Kiosk Technologies, on Sept. 29. The 24‑month agreement is priced at $1,350 per kiosk.
Lieutenant Kurt Schaunaman of the Jail Division described the kiosk’s features: participants use a fingerprint to access their account and take tests; the kiosk captures still and video images to verify the participant; the device’s software alerts 24/7 Program staff to positive or missed tests; kiosks can process approximately 45 tests per hour.
Motion by Commissioner Gerald Beninga, seconded by Commissioner Dean Karsky, authorized the agreement and signature of the Chair. The motion passed with 5 ayes. The agreement places the kiosk in the 24/7 Program lobby and establishes monitoring and notification procedures through the vendor’s software.
The minutes record the authorization but do not specify the number of kiosks to be installed; contract management and deployment details are to be handled by the Sheriff’s Office and Jail Division.
