Minnehaha County creates Lead Paralegal classification, approves personnel pay and step changes
Summary
The Board approved several personnel step increases, created a new Lead Paralegal classification for the Public Defender’s Office (pay grade 17) effective Dec. 26, 2020, and authorized a temporary salary adjustment for Senior Deputy State’s Attorney Drew DeGroot; motions passed unanimously.
The Minnehaha County Commission on Oct. 13 approved multiple personnel actions across departments and created a new classification for the Public Defender’s Office.
At Human Resources' request, commissioners voted to establish a Lead Paralegal classification at pay grade 17 for the Public Defender’s Office, effective Dec. 26, 2020. The motion was made by Commissioner Karsky and seconded by Commissioner Beninga and passed 5-0.
The panel also approved listed step increases for employees in Human Services, the Sheriff’s Office, Jail, Public Defender’s Office and the State’s Attorney’s Office; the minutes record each employee, new rate and effective date. Separately, the commission approved a temporary additional-duty salary adjustment for Drew DeGroot, Senior Deputy State’s Attorney, effective Oct. 1, 2020 through the appointment date of the new Chief Civil Deputy State’s Attorney, raising DeGroot’s temporary salary to $3,186.40/biweekly.
All personnel motions were approved by recorded vote (5 ayes). The minutes show these actions were placed on file with effective dates as recorded.
