Minnehaha County awards chiller replacement and jail health services contracts

Facilities Director Mark Kriens presented the Energy Plant Chiller Replacement Request for Proposals and said an evaluation committee found Krier & Blain Inc to be the most qualified respondent for RFP #20-03. The commission voted to award the proposal to Krier & Blain Inc; the final contract amount and contract document will be presented to the commission at a later meeting.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Jeff Gromer presented proposals for the county jail's comprehensive institutional health care services and said a review committee selected Morse Correctional Healthcare & Consulting Inc, doing business as Correctional Medical Management, LLC, for RFP #20-02. The commission authorized the chair to sign a two-year agreement beginning Jan. 1, 2021. The contract carries a management fee of $260,000 in the first year and $266,500 in the second year; the agreement provides for a 2.5% increase for each renewal term after the initial two-year term. The motion to award and authorize signature passed by roll call vote: 5 ayes.
County officials did not provide a dollar amount for the chiller replacement in the public minutes recorded in the transcript. The jail services contract is scheduled to take effect Jan. 1, 2021, with renewal terms described in the agreement.
The awards follow the county's competitive procurement process: Kriens said five proposals were received for the chiller RFP and references were checked; Gromer said six proposals were received for jail health services. Both award motions were unanimous.
