Minnehaha County accepts three DOT bridge grants, agrees to 20% local matches

Minnehaha County commissioners authorized staff to sign Bridge Improvement Grant Agreements with the South Dakota Department of Transportation to accept preliminary engineering funds for three bridge-replacement projects.
The awards and county matches are: $32,000 (Structure #50-087-120; county match $8,000; county project MC20-12; state PCN 08CD), $27,000 (Structure #50-237-120; county match $6,750; MC20-13; PCN 08CE), and $24,500 (Structure #50-272-030; county match $6,125; MC20-14; PCN 08CF). DJ Buthe, Highway Superintendent, presented the grants and explained the county’s obligation to provide a 20% local match for each award.
Commissioner Heiberger moved to authorize the Chair to sign each Bridge Improvement Grant Agreement; Commissioner Beninga seconded. Each motion passed by roll-call vote: 5 ayes.
The commissions’ approvals allow the County to proceed with preliminary engineering and move each bridge replacement project forward, subject to budgeting for local matches and subsequent project phases.
